From the tram to the monorail, a sea of adults and children dressed like Peter Pan, Luke Skywalker, Ursula, and Alice from Wonderland, join you in entering Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party.
It is so fun to see all the families, friends and groups bring all the Disney characters to life with their imagination. My family and I were grateful and excited to be able to attend the first Friday of Mickey’s Not so Scary Halloween Party.
In typical Disney style the park is decorated with the colors of autumn and the Disney Villains get to have their time in the spotlight. My children absolutely loved the new “Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular.”
My daughter smiled and giggled as all the Disney Villains interacted and danced with the three sisters from Disney’s Hocus Pocus. She especially loved seeing Maleficent, and the grand finale is not to be missed.
Mickey’s Boo-to-You Halloween Parade was also fun to experience. Make sure to look out for the headless horseman who announces the beginning of the parade. A great twist in the parade is seeing the Disney Characters in Halloween costumes.
As a child therapist I loved seeing the children who were also in costume become elated when they saw their favorite Disney character wearing a similar piece. And of course, the Happy HalloWishes fireworks show was absolutely wonderful.
On an ordinary day it is special to step into the fantasy that is the Magic Kingdom. In full costume? An other-worldly experience. From Tomorrow Land to Adventure Land you can ride all the great rides at the park and fill your bag with candy. It is the ultimate neighborhood for Trick or Treating.
My two tweens and I had a not-so-scary time in Mickey Mouse’s Not So Scary Halloween in Disney’s Magic Kingdom in Orlando, FL
Here are some quick tips to enjoy the party:
- Be creative. Choose a Disney Character or Villain and dress up like them. If you want to keep it simple, head into one of the shops in Main Street upon arrival and buy yourself some head gear, which makes for a quick costume.
- Be mindful of the costumes you choose. The Not-So-Scary theme is just that, not scary, therefore keep the gore and blood for another event.
- The party begins at 7 pm and ends at 12 am on selected nights from Sept 15-Nov. 1. If you have young ones under five, be sure they nap or bring your stroller so you can make it to the fireworks show.
- Dinner at the park is pretty simple as there are a variety of dining choices throughout Magic Kingdom.
My family and I really enjoyed our evening out at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. It is an excellent choice to celebrate this Halloween season with your family, and a different way to experience the park.
