On Tuesday November 12th another Disney ‘first’ comes to life- this time directly across homes in America with the premiere of the Disney+ video streaming service available for a base package of $6.99 per month. And with it comes a little bonus- the first movie produced for the service- the new LIVE action Lady and the Tramp.
While our team did not have the opportunity to see the movie ahead of the premiere this time- we did have the opportunity to meet one of its human stars Adrian Martinez! And drumroll… we got to meet the actual beloved dogs Lady and Tramp played by ‘Rose & Monty’ while they visited with us on Miami Beach. Our Los Tweens & Teens publisher Cristy Clavijo-Kish enjoyed a special moment with “Monty” who’s a real-life rescue dog and shares a similar story with her own family’s rescue dog ‘Tasha.”
With production of the new Lady and the Tramp– Disney continues on its roll out of remakes surrounding its animated classics, including this latest version streaming on Disney+ featuring Tessa Thompson and Justin Theroux as the lovable dogs.
Adrian Martinez an actor, writer, producer, and director with a Latino heritage has over 100 film and TV credits and plays the role of “Elliot” the dog catcher, who is trying to keep order in the city. During our interview roundtable we asked Adrian about what the film means for older kids and he provided these insights:
‘As a father of a teen myself I enjoyed the movie’s messages of empathy and getting to know yourself so you can make the best decisions that impact your life positively. I feel there are great undertones in this film of self discovery and I’m proud to share it with the world,” he said. “Having the movie release via Disney+ allows for a wide range of families to easily enjoy it in their homes.”
Adrian is writing and developing film and TV projects through his production company, Paloma Pictures. We’ll keep an eye out on his next production and share it with our Los Tweens & Teens familia.
