Maleficent: Mistress of Evil is the sequel to the 2014 global box office hit, Maleficent, starring Angelina Jolie and Elle Fanning.
We were lucky enough to be given the opportunity to watch the newest chapter in their story. Ultimately, the years have been kind to Maleficent and Aurora, their relationship, which if you remember was born of heartbreak, revenge, and ultimately love, has flourished. Unfortunately, the hatred between man and the fairies still exists.
In the film Maleficent and her goddaughter Aurora begin to question the complex family relationship that binds them together as they are pulled in different directions by impending nuptials, unexpected allies, and dark new forces.
It’s a fairly (pun intended) simple narrative of the good versus evil that director Joachim Rønning elevated with outstanding performances, world-class animation, and sound.
With widespread portrayals of death and destruction, this fairytale is by no means intended for small children in our opinion. However, the live-action magic will bring the big screen alive for bigger teens and parents.
