New York Fashion Week is a crazy fun filled week of fashion. This Spring 2017 was no different and I was lucky enough to get to be part of it again. The shows I attended this week for LosTweens.com were varied and really fun. There were looks appropriate for teenage girls and their moms as well.
Let’s start with Onyii & Co, a colorful print filled collection headed by Nigerian-native and founder, Onyii Brown. This collection was bright, happy and flattering. It made me want to be in the Caribbean drinking a tropical drink by the seashore.
The colorful African-inspired prints were all made in linen and cool cotton fabric to make it comfortable and fashionable. I love the beautiful deep blues and cool greens reminiscent of the Caribbean Sea. Her pinks and deep corals are an explosion of floral colors and flirty femininity. I honestly want them all for my next trip to the Caribbean.
Our next designer, Storm Dorris, is a Georgia-based designer whose show had a fairy tale feeling filled with tulle and sequins in soft pastels with a splash of deep red and black. The collection was made for the perfect special occasion like a prom, quinces or a wedding. You can imagine a dancing the night away under star filled sky, in any of these beautiful dresses.
My personal favorite was the lavender tulle dress with the low back and flirty sweetheart neckline and yes I dreamt of dancing in this little number 🙂
Lavanya Coodly had a collection that included bohemian-inspired daywear and a few intricately beaded evening looks. The day wear was definitely casual and breezy including a pink romper and fun red and cream striped shorts. This girl was sporty and practical. The evening was dramatic made of sheer fabrics and sequins with a bohemian flair.
By the direction of these three designers, Spring 2017 promises to be one filled with color and femininity. The lovely use of prints and light weight fabrics makes them easy to wear and pack for your next vacation. The evening pieces were so beautiful and would be perfect for your next summer event.
Now I need to get back to reality and think about my fall wardrobe!
