What I learned from reading the Adventures of Rockford T. Honeypot:
A couple of months ago I found a wonderful book that, honestly, exceeded my expectations. Reading has always been a practice that I like to nurture and, most important, to teach my daughter its value and impact in our overall lives, but honestly, sometimes is challenging to find a book that, apart from having a cute nice story that my 8 year old daughter can get hooked on, can also have a nice message and teach her something productive for her life.
As a mother, human being an Authentic Self Expression coach, personal development is a must in my daily activities, so for me a good life lesson in a good book is super important.
We started reading the Rockford book and what started as a cute children’s book became a good reminder of what courage and a little bit of risk can bring to our lives. The author describes the story of a cute chipmunk that frozen from his fears he would live his life through imaginary adventures in books. One fine day destiny gave him the opportunity to embark in a real adventure, a real journey that would take him to meet not only amazing friends and creatures, new and exciting experiences but also his biggest fears.
Rockford is a sweet and brave chipmunk that through getting out of the comfort zone he learns one of the most important lessons in life: Being yourself is good enough.
Maya (my daughter) loved the book, we laughed, cried and enjoyed every second of it, and to be honest it also gave me a push to ask myself: what other adventure could I embark myself on today if I choose to embrace my fears and use my “unfortunate” circumstances as a platform for growth?.
Honestly with corona virus in full effect and the apparently never ending quarantine, this book gave me the inspiration I needed to remind myself that there is always an exciting new adventure if I just choose to flow and trust that within me I have everything it takes to fulfil my dreams.
Big Kudos to the author!! And thank you for giving me the opportunity to learn through the sweet chipmunk and through spending quality time with Maya
